Elliot Erwitt, a photographer with a great sense of humor


Elliot Erwitt is one of the pillars of artistic photography in the second half of the twentieth century and its influence extends to this day.

This photographer born in Paris in 1928 into a family of Russian immigrants. His early years were passed in the United States while attending Hollywood High School, working in a laboratory Erwitt revealing signed copies of movie stars to their fans. Recruited by the U.S. Army in 1951, continues to work as a photographer for various publications.

In 1953, just after leaving the army, Elliott Erwitt was invited to join Magnum Photos by Robert Capa, one of its founders. In 1968 he became chairman of the prestigious agency and will be re-elected twice more.

Erwitt's books, newspaper essays, his repotajes and advertisements have been published throughout the world for over 40 years. In the 70 and 80 is inserted into the TV world and makes documentaries and television programs.

From the 90's until today continues to work with the media, industrial and advertising photography. Besides publishing books and continues to exhibit in museums. And he has had numerous exhibitions worldwide.
