Ahuachapán Department, is the westernmost of the 14 departments that is divided El Salvador. Its capital, Ahuachapán City is 100 km from the capital of El Salvador.El Department has an area of \u200b\u200b1,239.60 km ². The Coast Range crosses the state parallel to the coast.
The main river is the Peace River, which forms the border with Guatemala, others short and torrential rivers flowing from the Coast Range. Some of its beaches are the Barra de Santiago and La Garita Palmera.
Ahuachapan lies in National Reserve Forest El Imposible, a large forest with ecological interest.
